Meet the Founder

Faraz
Shahzad.

Founder & CEO / Architect of Onyx HRMS

He didn't assemble a bundle of HR tools. He architected one connected system — where people, attendance, leave, payroll and hiring speak to each other natively, designed for the way ambitious teams actually work.

Faraz Shahzad is the Founder & CEO of Onyx HRMS — and the architect who designed and engineered the platform from a blank page.

His premise was simple. The software running a company's most valuable asset shouldn't make HR work harder. It should disappear into the work, so teams can focus on building, not bookkeeping. So he didn't stitch together attendance, payroll and people tools. He architected a single connected system where each part feeds the next — natively, with no sync, no duplicates, no drift.

From the data model to the geo-fenced attendance engine to the payroll pipeline, every layer was drawn to carry ten employees and five hundred on the same foundation.

That architecture is why Onyx scales without re-platforming, why a successful candidate becomes an employee in a single step, and why payroll calculates itself from attendance without a human in the middle. It's also why the operator's data stays inside their own workspace — privacy by architecture, not a setting toggled on after.

What he built

The architecture
behind Onyx.

Six pillars he designed and engineered — each one a system, together one platform.

01

Connected data model

A single source of truth where employee records, departments, reporting lines and documents live as one graph — no sync, no duplicates, no drift.

02

Geo-fenced biometrics

Every employee's smartphone becomes a check-in terminal — geo-fenced, timestamped, logged in real time, with no biometric hardware required.

03

Automated payroll engine

Attendance flows straight into payroll. Adjustments, deductions and net pay calculate themselves, and salary slips generate in one click.

04

Employee lifecycle

From recruitment pipeline to onboarding to offboarding — the full journey, so a successful candidate becomes a profile in a single step.

05

Role-based access

Permissions engineered at every layer. People see only what they need to, sensitive records stay restricted, every action stays traceable.

06

Document & template engine

HR letters, salary slips and documents generate consistently from live employee data — with a template editor that puts control back in the operator's hands.

Operating principles

How he builds.

The convictions that shape every decision he makes as architect of Onyx.

01

Build for real operations

Software that looks beautiful in a demo but breaks on a real shift roster is useless. Onyx is built against the messy reality of how teams actually run.

02

One system, not many

Disconnected tools create disconnected teams. Faraz architected one connected workspace so data never has to be copied, exported or reconciled.

03

Privacy by architecture

People data is sacred. Onyx runs inside the operator's own drive with role-based access applied across every record, not bolted on after.

04

Scale without re-platforming

The architecture was drawn to carry ten employees and five hundred on the same foundation — so growth never means starting over.

The journey

From idea
to institution.

The path he walked to architect Onyx HRMS into the platform it is today.

The premise

Seeing the gap

Watching HR teams juggle spreadsheets, biometric hardware and disconnected payroll tools, he saw what others missed: the problem wasn't HR — it was the software. The idea of one connected system took shape.

The architecture

Designing from zero

He architected the data model, the attendance engine and the payroll pipeline as a single connected graph — not features glued together, but one system designed to think as one.

The build

Engineering Onyx

Geo-fenced biometric attendance without hardware. Payroll that calculates itself. Recruitment that turns a hire into an employee in one step. Each module engineered to feed the next.

Today

Leading the platform

As Founder & CEO, he continues to architect Onyx's evolution — scaling for ambitious teams across Pakistan while keeping the system true to its first principles.

"The best HR software doesn't make you feel the software. It lets you feel only your people."
